22 Oct Medical Director Earns Knight of the Order of Merit
John V. Prunskis, MD, FIPP has recently been honored and ranked Knight of the Order of Merit by the Lithuanian government for “Contributions to Lithuania” in 2014. Dr. Prunskis was appointed by US State Department and Government of Lithuania as Honorary Consul of Lithuania. In 2013, Dr. Prunskis was elected Chairman of Lithuania’s Parliament/World Lithuanian Community Commission. As both member(first term) and as Chairman(second term) of the Lithuanian Parliament/World Lithuanian legislation in Lithuania, Dr. Prunskis has supported or initiated legislation pertaining to social issues, citizenship, healthcare, bureaucratic reforms, energy independence, land ownership rights, military and NATO commitment to name a few.
Aside from his most recent honor, Dr. Prunskis is the first physician in the Chicagoland area to achieve the prestigious Fellow in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) and has been granted the title of Top Pain Doctor in Chicago by US News and World Report. He is the only pain management physician to have received 7 Castle Connolly “Top Chicagoland Doctor” awards as voted by his physician peers. Dr. Prunskis is the Medical Director of Illinois Pain Institute, Chicagoland’s leading and longest-established multi-site Interventional Pain Practice. In 2012, Dr. Prunskis founded Barrington Pain and Spine Institute, Illinois’ only Ambulatory Surgery Center dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of spine and other pain problems. Dr. Prunskis received his Medical Degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago. While attending University of Chicago he completed his Residency and Fellowship in Pain Management.
