Dr. Dallas organizes free clinic in Elgin, 300+ free treatments provided

Heal Elgin Clinic provided entirely free health care services to the Elgin community as a part of Love Elgin day last weekend. The one-day clinic provided over 300 free treatments and consultations to Elgin-area residents including 66 dental exams, 100+ radiographs, 19 dental extractions, 26 fillings, 29 dental cleanings, 63 eye exams, and 40+ correct lens fulfillments. Additionally, dozens of residents were screened for a variety of medical conditions including stroke, cardiopulmonary risk factors, and general health and wellness.

Patients began lining up at the Elgin Adventist Church on Bode Road hours before the 9am open time and continued coming until the 4pm close of registration. Thankfully, everyone who sought treatment was able to be seen. Parking was one of the biggest challenges for the day, with many patients taking advantage of the Heal Elgin bus that made regular stops around the community.

The event was made a success thanks to over one local hundred volunteers and sponsors, including dental students and professors from Midwestern University Dental School, ophthalmological care provided by Ophthalmology Associates of Elgin, and the efforts of founder and medical director of Heal Elgin Clinic, Dr. Terri Dallas (Illinois Pain Institute).

In her letter to volunteers, Dr. Dallas thanked all of their hard work and is already planning for an even bigger free clinic for the Elgin community in 2019.
