Top Doctors in Chicago(January, 2012 - Chicago) - John V. Prunskis, M.D., FIPP, selected by his peers as one of the best doctors in the Chicago area for an unprecedented sixth time. 
 
Six-peat!  John V. Prunskis, M.D., FIPP, specialist in Interventional pain medicine, has been selected by his peers to be the recipient of the Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” award for an unprecedented sixth year. The secret vote occurs every two years.
 
Dr. Prunskis received his M.D. from Rush Medical School in Chicago, his internship at University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals, residency at University of Chicago Hospitals  and fellowship at University of Chicago Hospitals. 
 
He is a board certified Interventional Pain Physician.  Dr. Prunskis has achieved
the highest level in the field of pain medicine, Fellow in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP).          

An expert in his field, Dr. Prunskis has served as Secretary of the Illinois Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.  Dr. Prunskis has been voted  among the top 5 specialists at Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center. 
     
In 2008 Dr. Prunskis was appointed to the Illinois State Medical Society Council on Health Care Economics. He has been president of the McHenry County Medical Society. He is a current delegate to the Illinois State Medical Society, a past member of the Illinois State Medical Society Governmental Affairs Council, an exam writer for The American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Management, and has been listed in  “Two “Thousand Notable American Men” published by the American Biographical Institute. He is a current certification examiner for   Interventional Pain Management.    

Dr. Prunskis has been Co- Medical Director of Illinois Pain Institute (IPI) since 1993. The Illinois Pain Institute is the longest established multi-site Interventional Pain Practice in the Chicago area. 
 
The practice has grown to include five locations in the Chicago suburbs:  Elgin, Barrington, McHenry, Itasca and Libertyville.  One hundred percent of the practice is focused on recognizing and identifying the source of pain and providing precise spinal diagnosis and interventional  treatment of painful conditions. Dr. Prunskis and his associates have expertise in diagnosing and relieving these problems and many other painful conditions by addressing and fixing the source of the pain.
